The 6th edition of Sinopale postponed until 2017

A message from the curatorial team of Sinopale 6:

As Sinopale team believing in democracy and significance of the people’s will, we strongly believe that our country will leave this sensitive process behind as soon as possible.

Sinopale, which is celebrating its 10th year, is a process-based biennial focusing on participation, exchange, local expertise and an international network. It is not only a temporary exhibition every two years, but a relationship and an on-going practice.
Due to recent events in Turkey, the curators Melih Görgün, Nike Baetzner and Jonatan Habib Engqvist have agreed to postpone the international part of Sinopale 6: Transpostion /Aktarım, originally planned to open on August 6 this year, until 2017.
This August certain parts of Sinopale will take place as planned with regional partners, with film screenings and workshops for children. However, cooperation between the regional/local and the artists from out-of-town as well as the multi venue exhibition at the various locations in Sinop and Gerzi are postponed until next year.

We remain in “Transposition”. We will continue to engage in the network of Sinopale – following how the situation develops, continuing our conversations, developing ideas further, and meeting in different constellations.

Postponed is not cancelled.
