The Biennale di Venezia is now considered one of the world’s most important art events. Nowhere else can you the history of German art since the late 19th century. so strikingly understand – of the absolute highlights of Classical Modernism by the depths of Nazi art policy for the controversial performances of recent decades.

In summer 2012, international researchers discussed the history of the German Pavilion, which exists since 1909, first as a Bavarian Pavilion, at the Giardini. The volume summarizes the current results and overlooks further research areas for the Venice Biennale. So interpretations and analyzes are here on national perspectives also presented the newly classify the appearance of German Art in the Giardini.
