Yilmaz Dziewior, director of Kunsthaus Bregenz was appointed commissioner of the Austrian Pavilion at Venice Biennale 2015.

Looking towards choosing an artist for the pavilion, Dziewior told Austrian daily, Der Standard that he wants to avoid a stereotypical Venice move of focusing too heavily on the context of the pavilion itself: “My selection will confront not only the space and rich historical context of the Austrian pavilion but also in equal measure be an exhibition of images as powerful for their content and thematic properties as for their aesthetic value.”
