The curatorial team for Momentum 6:
Theodor Ringborg is educated at Konstfacks curator education in Stockholm, and he has previously curated Fall Out: War and Conflict in the British Council Collection for Whitechapel.
Christian Skovbjerg is a freelance curator who has worked with Action Gallery and project Sid Ned!; “art in public spaces”.
Marianne Zamecznik has the past few years been responsible for exhibitions at 0047, an independent organization for projects, exhibitions, publications and events in and in between the fields of art and architecture.
Markús Þór Andrésson is based in Berlin and has curated Iceland’s pavilion in Venice 2009 (together with Dorothée Kirch).
Aura Seikkula is based in Helsinki, and has curated internationally for several years, recently Tense Territories and Questions of Conflict in Istanbul.
Each curator will contribute with thorough knowledge about the art scene of their respective country and the visual artistic areas they previously have experience and taken interest in. The Biennial will consist of a complex and broad selection of Nordic artists, seminars, educational projects, catalogues and more. MOMENTUM 2011s objective is to reveal a new Nordic situation, and display how this alteration is expressed artistically.
The selection of curators has taken place in co-operation with the Nordic institutions IASPIS (- Konstnärsnämndens internationella program för bild- og formkonstnärer, Stockholm), Kunststyrelsen ( København), OCA (- Office for Contemporary Art Norway), CIA (KÍM – Kynningarmiðstöð íslenskrar myndlistar, Island), FRAME (Näyttelyvaihtokeskus FRAME, Helsinki) and Finsk-Norsk Kulturinstitutt (Oslo). The final choice of curators has been taken by Dir. Dag Aak Sveinar, and the decision is based on stronger and broader focus on Nordic contemporary art in Momentum 6.
