Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) is looking for a dynamic individual who can combine knowledge and understanding of the international contemporary visual arts with an ability to lead the organisation in its next phase of development.

Iniva has recently refocused its purpose and the Director will have a strong artistic vision with demonstrable capacity for organisational leadership.

You will be committed to providing artists with new opportunities, generating public debate in relation to the politics of race with diverse audiences and have a commitment to art histories beyond the Western canon.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Salary: £48,000 (4 days per week £60,000 p.a. pro rata)

Reporting to: Chair of the Board of Trustees

The role of the Director is the lead executive position within Iniva. The Director is responsible for providing overall vision and artistic leadership for the organisation as a whole and for ensuring Iniva occupies a unique position within the contemporary visual arts, in particular reflecting on the politics of race and global identities.

The Director manages key personnel within the organisation and is responsible to the Board for effective and appropriate management of the overall organisation.

Head of Finance & Resources
Senior Artistic Producer
Library and Information Manager
External expertise including Curators, Artistic Producers and Digital Producers External Advisers for Audience Engagement, Fundraising, PR & Marketing etc.

Main Objectives

1. To provide vision and strategic leadership in line with Iniva’s agreed Mission and Objectives and to work with the Chair and Board of Trustees to develop the organisation as a significant and dynamic Institute of International Visual Arts.

2. To develop the intellectual and practical framework for its artistic programme, to involve a range of associates in the design and delivery of the programme, both nationally and internationally.

3. To engage and develop audiences in relation to the programme, working with partners to achieve reach and impact.

4. To lead on Iniva’s development and fundraising activity in conjunction with the support of the Board, including approaches to trusts and foundations, corporate and individual supporters and business development.

5. To develop and foster relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations in the UK and internationally, including museums and galleries, educational and academic institutions as well as new media bodies, in order to expand programming potential. . To cultivate and implement approaches to potential companies, trusts and individuals in order to develop the sustainable growth of the organisation and its activities.
