DIS, the curatorial team of the 9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, will be introduced at the annual press conference of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation), which will be followed by a reception on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 5 pm at Villa Elisabeth, Invalidenstr. 3, 10115 Berlin.
The board of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes will report on current topics and plans of the foundation. On this occasion, DIS will give an overview of their curatorial planning process and the selection of the venues for the 9th Berlin Biennale, which takes place from June 4 to September 18, 2016. The Berlin Biennale has been funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes as a cultural institution of excellence since its fourth edition. A panel discussion on the topic “How do museums (have to) change” will also take place as part of the press conference. Moderated by Stefan Koldehoff (culture editor at Deutschlandfunk), it includes participants Hartwig Fischer, recently appointed Director of the British Museum, Marion Ackermann, Artistic Director of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Paul Spies, incoming Director of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Landesmuseum für Kultur und Geschichte Berlins, and Hortensia Völckers, Artistic Director of Kulturstiftung des Bundes.
