Job Offer:
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in partnership with Liverpool Biennial
Closing date: 10 March, 2015
This post will enhance and consolidate practice-led research in Art and Design between Liverpool School of Art and Design and Liverpool Biennial. The post offers a unique opportunity for an exceptional individual to develop innovative and productive teaching and research activity by exploiting the synergies between academia, international art festivals and creative industries.
You will be based between LJMU and Liverpool Biennial; the proportion of time spent in either organisation will vary depending on seasonal pressures but will roughly be 50/50. In addition to the duties undertaken at each institution you will facilitate dialogue and collaboration between the other institutions holding cognate posts (Tate Liverpool and FACT) and with the cultural sector more broadly.
Within LJMU duties will comprise research and teaching in relevant subject areas at Liverpool School of Art and Design and you will report to the Fine Art Programme Leader. Research in the school exists at the forefront of staff and students’ creative practice. Art and design research has focused on contemporary issues and ideas in international art and design practice, curatorial practice and related histories and theories through exhibitions and publications, conferences, events and fellowships.
At Liverpool Biennial you will develop practice-led research activity relevant to Liverpool Biennial, including the exploration of the value of art and culture in cities and contribute to the commissioning of artists and knowledge production within the Biennial. You will work with the Artistic Director of Liverpool Biennial to develop a public platform for the presentation of artists’ and curatorial research to ensure that the research informing the Biennial and generated through its programme is world class and underpins the thinking and development of the Liverpool Biennial.
