1. The Venice Biennale was founded 119 years ago in 1895. In 1951 the Bienal de São Paulo was born. Documenta in 1955. The Biennale of Sydney in 1973. Then, in the ’90s, dozens of new biennials were inaugurated in the US, Asia, Europe and Africa. Why do you think contemporary art biennials have become so popular?

2. What’s most important for a biennial today? The budget, the marketing, the location, the curator’s profile, or the artist selection?

3. What distinguishes your biennial from the others? 

4. What’s a typical budget for your biennial? Does the funding come from public or private sources? Do you fundraise?

5. When will your next edition take place? Who will curate, and who are some of the more significant artists to be included?
