The Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) launched the new website www.biennale-venezia.ch which offers a general overview of all official Swiss contributions to the Venice Biennale since 1920.

As a freely accessible online reference work compiled by SIK-ISEA, the website www.biennale-venezia.ch offers a general overview of all official Swiss contributions to the Venice Biennale since 1920. It names, among others, the participating artists, the Commissioners and members of the Federal Art Commission, the works exhibited, the literature and other relevant documents. Alphabetical and chronological search functions facilitate detailed research in all the databases. SIK-ISEA is also supplying selected data for Pro Helvetia’s official biennials website (www.biennials.ch).

The website complements SIK-ISEA’s two-volume publication «Biennale Venedig: Die Beteiligung der Schweiz, 1920–2013», to be brought out in September 2013 by Scheidegger & Spiess Publishers, which provides a detailed historical account of Switzerland’s participation in the Venice Biennale.

The SIK-ISEA website www.biennale-venezia.ch will be updated regularly. Content will include documentary photos of early International Art Exhibitions in the lagoon city (views of the exhibition, views of the Swiss Pavilion, photos of events and artists, etc.). If you have any photographs taken during your own past visits to the Biennale and are happy for SIK-ISEA to post them free of charge on www.biennale-venezia.ch, please contact [email protected].
