The 29th São Paulo Biennial curated by Moacir dos Anjos and Agnaldo Farias will take place from 21 September to 12 December 2010 with the general theme of ‘Art and Politics’.
Co-curators are: Rina Carvajal, Sarat Maharaj, Fernando Alvim, Yuko Hasegawa, and Chus Martínez.
As a collaborative project, Capacete Entertainment and the 29th São Paolo Biennial are developing a workshop for a group of 10/15 people. The workshop titled Máquina de Responder/Response Machine consists of 9 workshops during 9 months, with the aim to sharpen the ability of listening and responding to some of the issues posed by the biennial. Thinking text as its primary matter of reflection and intervention, the workshops envisage to be a laboratory of discussion and production. Artists, curators, critics, thinkers and public in general, with consistent discursive practices and a reflection on contemporary culture, may send in a biography and a detailed resumé, together with a letter stating availability and interest in participating.
Each workshop will be organized by a guest and will last for 3 to 4 days. Closing date for applications: 26th March 2010. The first workshop will be in the 1st week of April 2010. All workshops are free, and will take place in São Paolo. Guests include: Marica Ferran (urbanist), Inti Guerreiro (artist and curator), Mariana Castillo Deball (artist), Afonso Luz (public politics) Raimundas Malasaukas (Lithuanian curator), Elfi Turpin (French curator), Carla Zaccagnini (artist and curator), Ana Paula Cohen (curator).
