Profile

Les Ateliers de Rennes is the first biennale to focus on the relationships between art and business and more broadly between art and the economy.

In 2006, the food-processing corporation Norac created the Art Norac association to launch the project for a biennale – first held in 2008 – with the goal of building a bridge between the company’s work and the work of artists.

Les Ateliers de Rennes – contemporary art biennale provides an opportunity to examine crucial issues of the day – work, value, and foresight. It is also the occasion for researchers and intellectuals to analyse the challenges presented, serving as a sounding board for the works of art.

As an independent curator and an agency to put its project in place are selected, a steering committee composed of representatives from Art Norac, exhibition venues, institutional partners and the art world monitors the biennial.
